Listening to Jesus

Have you ever noticed how, in our noisy world, listening to Jesus has become more difficult than ever? Jesus doesn’t shout over the crowds, He whispers in our ears. Jesus doesn’t spend billions in advertising, He speaks through the Scriptures. Jesus doesn’t try to garner an online following like a celebrity or an influencer. Instead, He gathers His Church together in groups of 10, 50, or 100.
Martin Luther wrote that the Church is “the little sheep who hear the voice of their Shepherd,” but it seems like there are so many interruptions. I wonder, though, what would happen if, for four months, we listened intently and intentionally to the voice of Jesus? What might we hear Him saying? What might we see Him doing? What might He teach us? How might He change us?
From the end of Advent through the beginning of Easter, I invite you to find out with me as we sit and listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus. During this time, we will read through the Gospel of Luke together throughout the week and during worship on Sunday mornings.
In the coming weeks you will receive a reading guide that will provide you with three prompts each week to prepare you for worship on Sunday: READ, REFLECT, & PRAY.

You may choose to READ, REFLECT, & PRAY by yourself, with your family, or with another small group of people – it’s up to you! Whichever you choose, I pray that as we listen to the voice of our Shepherd, our life together may continue to be guided by Him and centered on His life-giving Word.
In Christ,
Pastor Nick
